The Church has traditionally taught that Sacraments are “outward signs instituted by Christ to give grace.” Sacraments are actions of prayer and worship that bring us into the presence of God in special ways, empowering us to live more authentic Christian lives. Here you will find a list of the seven Sacraments and information about how to receive them at Our Lady of Ransom. For theological information, click on the name of the Sacrament.
For infants and children, baptisms take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:30 PM in the Church. Baptism preparation sessions are held on the first Monday of the month at 7 PM in the Ministry Center. Families requesting baptisms must be registered in the parish prior to making arrangements. Please register by calling the Ministry Center at 847-823-2550 and speaking to one of the priests 2-3 weeks prior to the preparation session. Unbaptized adults must enroll in the RCIA Program (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), and will be baptized at the Easter Vigil.
2nd grade students enrolled in the Religious Education program receive their First Holy Communion in the spring of the academic year; adults who have not yet received Communion must enroll in the RCIA Program, and will subsequently receive Communion at the Easter Vigil.
For our regular daily and weekly Mass schedule, consult the sidebar on the left.
Confirmation is administered in the spring to eighth grade students enrolled in the Religious Education Program. Adults who have completed the RCIA Program are confirmed at the Easter Vigil.
Reconciliation is available on Saturdays 11:00 AM – 12 noon and individually as requested.
Weddings at OLR take place on Saturdays at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Weddings on weekdays and Sundays are arranged individually. Please notify one of the priests at least 6 months before you plan your wedding. Families requesting weddings must be registered in the parish prior to making arrangements.
