Our Religious Education Program attempts to create a community where adults and young people can grow in a personal relationship with God.
As ministers of the Good News, we strive to model the qualities of Jesus. We bring to our ministry a spirit of enthusiasm and hospitality, honesty and caring. We commit ourselves to pass on the riches of the scriptures and traditions of the church respectful of our diverse cultural heritages and life experiences.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit and rooted in prayer, we will call ourselves and others to respond to the challenges of the Gospel by loving service to all.
We encourage each family to become actively involved in OLR’s Religious Education Program and Parish in order to model a living and active Catholic faith. Because parents are the primary educators, we rely on our families to work in partnership with our program.
Classes meet from September through May and are held on Tuesday evenings for students in grades one through eight.
Students enrolled in our program will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharist in second grade and the Sacrament of Confirmation in eighth grade. Provisions are made for older students to receive the sacraments at any grade level. The student needs to be enrolled in Religious Education for two years prior to receiving any sacrament.
Students will have the opportunity to attend Mass and go to confession throughout the year. There will also be opportunities for service to others through our outreach programs.
Our Religious Education Program is dependent on those who volunteer their time and talent. You do not need to have a child enrolled in the program to be a volunteer.
