Welcome to the Religious Education Program at Our Lady of Ransom Parish! Children are truly the future of our Church. One day our children will lead us in ways we never dreamed possible. Our catechists attempt to prepare our youth for what lies ahead in their personal faith journey, incorporating theology, service, prayer, and worship.
A dear friend gave me this quote: “When you come to the edge of all the light you have known, and you are about to step out in the darkness, FAITH is knowing one of two things will happen…there will be something to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.” In Religious Education, we attempt to do both. We attempt to give our students a strong theology to stand on through weekly classes, service opportunities, sacramental preparation, and regular participation in prayer and Mass. At the same time we encourage our students to fly by experiencing their faith in small ways each day, by seeing the face of Jesus in others, and by coming to know and share Christ’s abundant love.
Tuesday classes begin on September 10th with the Opening Mass at 6:30 for parents and students. After Mass students will be dismissed to their classrooms, while the parents remain in the church for a brief overview of the year. A finalized 2019-2020 calendar will be posted soon. Typically, the Closing Mass is the first Tuesday of May. Given our time together is short, attendance is very important.
Our tuition fees are: 1 child $175, 2 children $255, 3 children $330, and 4+ children $400. Sacramental fees that apply to those making First Reconciliation/First Communion and Confirmation in the given school year are $60 per child. Please note the revised class times listed below.
- Grades 1 and 2 at 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm OR 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm
- Grades 3 thru 8 at 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm
Sunday Children’s Liturgy of the Word meets during the 10:45 am Mass, except Christmas and Easter.
